Zen Touch

I just got the creative Zen Touch from amazon - 169.99

Works with media player, so far V.Good.

Now need squeezebox to play through HiFi.

I have an iRiver 20 GB that I bought in the States about 6 months ago which has been great , and has a real 16hr battery life ( iPod is 8).
The design is not as achingly hip, and the leather case seems to double it's size. You can also download/update from the site.

The only negative so far is that played throught a hi quality stereo system it sounds crap / weak... which is a shame

Just come back from the states, and with the current exchange rate an iPod is very cheap ... but then the USA seems to be iPod mad .....

The iPod sounded crap when I ran it through my home hi-fi till I started saving tracks at a higher setting - at 320kbps AAC format, sound is excellent.

Yep me. Its even less"achingly hip" than an iPOD, whatever that means:rolleyes: . It works perfectly well for me needs. I would buy an iPOD but they are expensive or you get them through eBay.

Generally works great, buttons a little crappy and software not very good in my opinion, but still pretty happy.

Hi there guys!
I have a jukebox Zen also...but I wonder, how have you solved the problem of listening to the music wearing a helmet and riding the bike...? I currently don't have any intercom or a helmet with headphones...how did you all do, and do you get a good sound when riding your bikes??? I was looking forward to the new BMW-helmet with bluetooth, but it seems that it will only work as a headset for your phone...or am I wrong?
Thanks for the advice in advance!

Hi Trancedancer,

Check out the link at the top for ultimate ear protection. They provide ear plugs with built in speakers. Do a search on this site as well as I'm sure there are other companies that provide the same kind of thing. I remember reading a thread that had all the information you need.

Wouldn't touch a creative product with a barge pole. No experience with there MP3 players but plenty of bad experience with their PC components.

At that price I would take the Ipod Mini.

Mrs Hovis has one. Pretty good, buttons a little fiddly but at the current Amazon price (cheapest on www.kelkoo.co.uk) of £139.99 post free it wa sa bargin innit. Excellent sound quality if cd's ripped at 128kbps....

Now she's after some earplaugs fitted with speakers to use it on the bike... saves her listening to me effing and blinding at other road users.... will get her to look at that link that I never even noticed (doh!) until i read this thread!

Fecjk me.. £139.99 for the player and £140 for the plugs/phones!!!

Thanks for the input ... not unanimous prasie as I'd hoped so will look around for a bit.

I don't want massive storage capacity, can't see the point: rather spend the cash I save on another toy ...

;)

 I'm the opposite Mike.....they're one of the component manufacturers I trust.....never had any probs with their kit or their drivers etc, and I've been using them for years, from an old SB16 and a 3dfx card up to an audigy 2 card in my machine now.

funny old world in't it :D

Bizarre :D What I hate most is all the junk they bundle with their sound cards (which I have  ) and which you cant get rid of like the replacement volume control, splash screen etc etc. Why cant they just give me a driver not a bundle of crappy software I dont want :shoot:
