CRF250L - any owners out there who can comment?

The deal has dissapeared from Auto trader, but if you have a word with Jack, he may sort you out. Worth a phone call I reckon.

Chester Honda...£3900

Anyone beat this...?

Or anyone know of newish, secondhand for sub £3k.... One on eBay done 500 miles....currently at £2750.!! But miles from me.....

If only it had wheels and an engine. Hang on .................... :D

Or get it delivered for £100 ish. :thumb2

That made me laugh.... Thanks...:blast

I aim to please :D

Last year (or maybe 2012 ?) a Honda dealer near Clarks BMW (south of Brum) offered me a new one for £3600 IIRC and £3400 each if half a dozen ish were to be ordered. Didn't require much arm twisting either. That was pre price rise mind.

I saw that one (500 miler) and thought it looked good, partularly with the extras it had.

I couldn't find new at a better price than quoted above, but managed to find a 2nd hand one with 58 miles on it for 3200 so went with that (else I'd have gone with the 500 miler)

There's a couple listed on the trf website, and they seem to be low £3000s with some kit on them.

Finn of this parish is selling one, ad is on the non gs section.

Mate of mine used to work in the motor trade and he reckoned that if parts were ordered on a 'VOR' (vehicle off road) basis, the manufacturers had to supply the bits sharpish ie in a day or 3. I suspect it was only ever a convention/rule of thumb type thing, may have been back in the dark ages anyway, and won't help if Honda UK can't get them from Japan (or wherever they're made this week), but may be worth a try - you'll be no worse off if they say "never heard of it and we still can't get 'em for 5 weeks".

Thanks ronnie honda dealership have got me one now , the funny thing is they are saying now it's not warranty issue it's wear and tear strange for a clutch to go at 3000 miles the thing is they adjusted it at 1500 then again at 2000 oh we'll il see what happens thanks for the advice guys .

Section 14 Sale of Goods Act 1979 - bike should be of satisfactory quality. Nowt to do with warranty which is in addition to your statutory rights. Unless you've abused the bike, a new clutch inside 2 years/3000 miles doesn't sound like satisfactory quality. Can't be normal wear and tear at that age/mileage unless they're saying (a) all clutches should go at that age/mileage on this model (unlikely) or (b) you've abused it (which I guess you'd have mentioned by now if they had).

Longer term feedback?

Ok it has been long enough now for people to gain longer term views of their CRFs.

I am thinking about buying one, so test rode one at a dealer yesterday.

I have just one question.

To get to and from Salisbury Plain etc I'd need to do 70-75mph, to be realistic. Despite prior concerns that the bike might struggle with those dizzy speeds :augie, I was pleased on the test that it not only managed, but it got there reasonably briskly too, even on an incline. So far so good.

However at anything over 70mph I was conscious that I was in the last 10% of the power. Will it stand this on a long term basis?

Yes it's a Honda, and yes I'll change its 1500mls of oil more frequently than suggested, and yes I know they're designed for gentler riding on trails - but if I buy it I know I will be ragging it for significant periods, just getting around.

Does anyone have any experience of riding one of these in a 'spirited' manner for a long period? And if so, how do they deal with it?

Cheers, Paul g
