Cross section of a tyre

I still don't get with the angst over getting a tyre to it's edge

Surely a tyre that leaves you a bit of a safety margin is better than one that goes right to the edge when just riding quickly. What happens when you're having a real, proper hoon and need that extra bit of tyre edge?

Has the riding God that is Giles got a story about that from a track day ? :D

Ha ha .... Yes, French track last year - very very hot day (up in the 90's) and the rear eventually let go coming out of a chicane. My fault entirely ...
(The bloody traction control didn't save me ..!!)

You have hit the nail on the head.
The Tourance has limited lean angle when compared to the PR4.
Which brings me back to my original question...

I had the opposite effect moving to PR4's. The latter is the only tyre I've had the confidence to use all the tyre i.e no chicken strips. All the others, Battlewings, Trail Attacks and PR3's had 5-10mm left on them.

I'd love to see a picture of no chicken strips with the PR4 on the LC bike. They have a very sharp angle on the rear so you must have been seriously leaned over.

Happy to oblige ..... :D

Track day ?

I ride a Hexhead not a WC. My point had nothing to do with the type of bike, it's comparing a PR3 and others to a PR4 on the same bike whatever it is.

Ok no worries, I was just wondering how someone got to the edge with these tyres on the LC bike. I'd like to see if it was even possible at the track, the front would not be an issue but the rear is very steep.

Cato se gat. The wheel spokes are laced different as to the GSA cross spoke outer rim edge way. Should have stuck with the GSA. Kick start Twice on Monday has turned you metro sexual.

You can get the GSA tyre to look like that. Refer to this thread. Done it before and good fun but the foot pegs are toast after such antics.
