Cunning, me........

The problem is that the more vertical you make the bike by propping up the sidestand, the more likely it is to fall over on an adverse slope or with a strong gust of wind. Suggest you go to the gym instead! :)

found out the hard way ..Tan Hill pub, my brand new Africa Twin got blown over, 800 quid of damage :blast

Good idea to put it in gear eh

Better idea to turn the bars to the left before you walk away

and then turn to the right get back on

Pssst Driveline backlash

I am not going to say it will happen

but I remember the face of my boss behind his office window at the dealership as I parked the used K1200LT outside for display and as I walked to the shop, a freak gust nearly blew me off my feet and his eyes opened wide as the K12 rolled forward off her stand and onto the lower engine panels and crash bar!!

No Damage It had superficial matching light scrapes on each side, but I saw ££££££sssssss coming out of my pay, Yes I had left the bars turned to the right:blast and being in gear had not been enough to hold it from reaching the balance point :rob

The last time I ever did :thumb

And that’s a very good reminder! And sorry Richie no I don’t but I can ‘set to’ and see if I can come up with anything?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

that would be great, thanks

When on the side stand

If you turn the bars so that the RH bar is nearest the tank

You will find the bike cants just a little bit lower ;)

As they say every little helps :)

I'm not sure if its the same with the GS as i have only had mine for a few days but on the RS if you lift the front of the bike up onto the side stand, then while your holding it up turn off the ignition it locks the electronic damper instantly and the rear locks after 20-30 seconds, just wondered if its the same?

Also if RH bar is nearest the tank the bike can "roll off" the stand with a bump/nudge from the rear or a big gust of wind!

it can't do it with Left hand lock :thumb

I dont recall saying leave it like that ;) it was merley for getting off / on ;)

What you do with your bars once your off it, is up to you :)

Mine locks if i turn the key - if i dont turn the key it dosent lock ;)

I've made packers for all my gser's to help get it rest more up right. The only problem is when loaded it often stands too upright especiallly abroad. So to help being the short arse I am I put the suspension from low to higher position when I need it to lean over a bit more.:beerjug:

Similarly, I have sometimes set the suspenders to LOW from AUTO when the bike has been leaning over too much.
