Current Drain

I'm having problems with my '06 R1200GS battery [I've posted a different thread relating to battery problems].

The bike came with a factory fitted BMW Alarm. The bike is always in the "armed" mode if it is not being ridden. The auxiliary power socket outlet is used once every three weeks or so to power my TomTom Rider. No other accessories are fitted (like fog lights etc).

I've had the bike tested by BMW Emergency Services (due to a flat battery breakdown), and they could find no apparent current drain in the circuit (not even a milli-amp). This is horse-$$$$ because the alarm would drain the battery by a few milli-amps!!!

The only thing I can think of is to measure the current myself using my Fluke DMM (once I've installed my new Odyssey PC535GS battery).

Has anyone else had a current drain related issues on their bikes? How was it resolved or rectified?

If it is the alarm only … should I then permanently dis-arm the alarm?

sounds like a duff battery, get an oddessey one to replace it
