Hi all ...

Just about to replace my rear sprocket after about 4k miles, after removing the rear wheel the sprocket carrier was quite loose and the cush drive rubbers are showing a lot of wear marks (if that makes sense) .. could this be the reason for the quick wear on the sprocket? priced up the rubbers from motor works and they are freakin £50 delivered! The thought of returning to a Jap bike is becoming more and more appealing! :hide ..... £50 for rubber bungs ... FFS!!!

This bike is seriously the most costly I have ever owned to keep on the road! Still love it though :thumb2 ................

Edit ... 4k miles and the sprocket looks like a circle with 47 toothpicks attached!

Read of people using inner tubes to make everything fit snuggly again. Could be a solution. Rubber is Rubber after all......isnt it:augie

Been reading that myself mate, ordered them now though :blast
Seriously though BMW need to sort out the manufacturers of spares for their bikes ... eg. £10 for a mirror nut! Dick Turpin would even frown!
These are parts that are probably made in China for pennys!!!!

Rant over

The rubber inner tube works well if packed right in there..FREE, as for your sprockets Don't buy aluminum light weight ones again, go to bmw and ask for a price for OEM, about the same as any other manufacturer and will last at least 10k if well lubed....

Cheers Tosh, just put a steel one on today from Motorworks, New cush drive dampers in and new Tourance rubber on the wheels ... Feels like a new bike!

Wish I'd just packed my old cush drive out with inner tube though :blast

£50 lighter now but what's done is done :eek

What next!!!!

That’s why I sold my Dakar, Don't get me wrong as they are Great Bikes, but very costly to maintain with very high main agent rates for any diagnose work if required,
Went British with a Triumph and I am very happy with is build quality and costs to maintain with great dealer support if required,
