Came to fit some bar risers but found I need to lengthen the brake line down to the first junction from the lever reservoir (servo brakes - for those familiar with the plumbing).

I know what I need, but wondered if anyone can recommend somewhere to get the line made up. I did wonder about a diy option from Goodridge I saw some years back, but no experience of doing this. The upside is I can get the perfect length. Downside is I screw it up .

Advice welcome

I use Venhill. They sell either the DIY type.....easy to make up, just order a few extra olives while your at it......or pre assembled hoses in 25mm steps and you simply screw on the apropiate banjo. Either are good, but parts are not interchangeable with each other.

B&C are great to deal with and just down the road from me. Remember when Julian first set up in one of the pig sheds......at least the smells not as bad now:D

I've got Venhill too. Just fitted bar risers and like you found it left the hose too tight so got a new longer hose delivered for less than £20

Undo the right fixed tube at the fork bridge and push it down the slider 14mm socket and 22mm open ended spanner.

Pass the brake hose through so that it is behind the fork bridge.

Reconnect the fixed tube to fork bridge.

Has it made it any better?

It worked for me.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I'm going to investigate both .

Thanks for the idea Ian. I did try this, but in my case the brake line has a short journey. When I bring it onto the other side of the yoke it's all cramped, which ends up restricting the bars on full lock but also seems to bend the hose too sharply as it leaves the security of the banjo joint. So no easy fix this time.

I get your point. My bike will go full lock to full lock without restriction, and yes the hoses to bend quite significantly, they are flexible after all, but I figure that for most day to day riding there is not a problem. The bike seldom gets full lock to full lock, only when testing for restriction and then when it gets an MOT.

Another alternative is Goodridge as fitted to latest WC GS's.

https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/goodridge

I had all my standard hoses replaced with Stainless Steel by 'Merlin Motorsport'. I sourced all the fittings myself from the Goodridge catalogue because they said I would have to deviate from the standard fit on the front. Well all the fittings, including the 3 way block that fits to the front fork bridge are available in stainless steel.

It was not a cheep project by any means and some hoses had to be redone (to short) even though I gave them the original hoses as a pattern to work from.

But all said and done, I'm happy with the end product.
