Good experience with CW Motorcycles over the past couple of days.

As some of you are aware I had a problem with my Datatool alarm, which broke, had my Bike recovered by BMW Asisst, who told the recovery people to take me to CW, on arrival, no messing around straight into workshop and checked over. Diagnosed as faulty control unit, they spoke to Datatool who replaced it under warranty.

Had the new unit fitted today, now my bike is all working in good order again. Only problem was that the Datatool was not a BMW component so was not covered by my bike warranty and Datatool would not cover the labour charges so that was down to me. Well recived a call telling me my bike was ready for collection, went to collect expecting a bill of about £120+. On arrival CW said no charge for the labour.

After my first encounter with CW am impressed with the service and the attitude of the staff. It's a shame I don't live in Dorchester....:D

I too had experiences with CW as an ex SPC customer and am contiually amazed by the service there (and again no bill), none of your new fangled ideas just good old fashioned customer service, you know the sort you talk about in the pub when your talking about old times like it doesnt exist anymore - well it does in Dorchester.

I live in Southampton but will be a loyal customer from now on - and no I am not connected with them in any way, I didn't even know they existed until SPC went, although I wish I had.

just good old fashioned customer service
.

Thanks for your kind comments, chaps.

Wally and I have been sorting out BMW bike problems here in Dorchester since 1978 so I suppose we've got quite good at it over the years, and it's always nice to get some good feedback from people we've helped out. We are constantly moaning at the Germans about product quality, and they are at last listening, I think. We have a visit this morning from the German world-wide head of aftersales who is ultimately responsible for everything that goes wrong with your bike, and we won't be pulling any punches with him. Whether otr not it'll make any difference I haven't a clue, but it might.

very good dealer spoilt only by the absolutely terrible "coffee" machine IMO.

Bert,
Hmmm...why build such 'issues' into the best-selling enduro bike ever? Haven't a clue, maybe just sour grapes because of Dresden?

Cookie,
I take exception to that slur on our coffee - it's Gold Blend don't you know, and we have been complimented on it by experts.....

Humbug,
Chef's tip. Try 2 pulls of Chinese Chicken, 1 pull of Vegetable and 1 pull of creamer. Yummy.

btw, we gave our German visitors a few things to chew over back at the bunker. They were very nice chaps, but very tight-lipped.

Cheers,

Dave.:rob

As I have mentioned before, I have used CW for some time now and recommend them to everyone who will listen. Moaning about not living in Dorchester:rolleyes: , I commute from Coventry to them and it's always a pleasure to see their cherubic smiling faces and that welcome free cup of chemicals - errrr coffee.
See you soon Dave.

build issues? :nenau what are you on about?
4 of those electrical items averaging one every 6K is...not very good....to say the least or would you disagree?
Neither are the final drive seal failures etc etc the list is long...
I've owned many bikes over the last 34 years of biking but never one which has needed so many recalls/repairs/software updates/replacement batteries (3- to date! chucking the standard one for an Odyssey soon)

Good bike? yes, but trouble free errrrmmm:rolleyes: nope.
Reliable....... let me see.... nope ....that's why I took a F650 GS Dakar into Africa.
.and with a spare BMS unit which one dealership in our beloved city does not wish to update 'because it started life in a CS....' strange don't you think when the CS/GS/ and Dakar engine wise are all identical (quote from Bracknell) between 2000 and 2003..... :nenau go figure...
It is seldom a mechanical problem which gets one down more 'attitude'- the wrong type that is!!!
but it is encouraging to hear positive comments about your dealership:clap
