I have a mate who has an 02 1150 GSA, he's not a member of this forum, so I said I'd ask around on his behalf. He's considering getting his cylinder heads re painted/powder coated (whatever it is you do to them).

His are a bluey/grey and he just wants them to look like new again. Anyone have any ideas where he might be able to get this done?

He lives in Wales and works in London so either end of his journey would suit him in respect of a location for a suitable company.

Cheers
Steve

The colour would suggest that you mean the valve cover?

Search on the username MikeO, he had his re-done.

Mike did indeed have his re-painted. He used a guy who I recommended in Edinburgh. They were painted in two pack epoxy. It's worth noting that the original BMW coating is incredibly tough. Grit blasting wouldn't look at it.

Yeah cylinder head valve cover, the bits that stick out either side of the engine near to your legs.

Powder Coating

Had mine done in black, and very nice they looked too, until I droped the feckin thing and scratched one. The original finish was coming off due to negligence by the 1st owner so I had them stripped and Powder Coated by a local chappie. However I would recommend a bike only specialist, there are plenty in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics, although very few in London.

If you do go down this road, use an alloy etching primer, this way, any light scratches won't show.
