Daily tool kit/emergency stuff

Erm nothing really, just S pare gloves, a warm jacket and hat in winter

Maybe I'm complacent, but the breakdowns over the years are all things I couldn't have repaired at the roadside anyway.

Phone (and a method of charging it), hi-vis waistcoat, umbrella (I'm not kidding), torch and of course more than one type of puncture repair kit.

The umbrella and puncture kit have been the most useful over the years

Whoever mentioned the lock has a good point. At least try to make it a little difficult for the scroats if you have to leave the bike behind for a while.

Depends on the bike I'm on.
KTM - nothing
BMW GSA - tyre repair plugs and a pump
H-D - regulator, gear lever, hand tools, etc.

I carry a mobile phone and have the recovery number in its memory. I also carry a chocolate spanner to fix the bike when I can't get a signal.

After doing bike safe and IAM and the proof that wearing hi box on a bike doesn't make you less likely tonne hit when on the bike. The hobbit is for if I end up stood on the hard shoulder/layby etc.

If the hobbit is a qualified bmw mechanic and has a set of suitable tools, why wouldn't you pack him in your extra large bmw top box :thumb2

Or is he there to make the tea, while you phone a friend :thumby:

Or, to take care of the high box, if he is indeed wearing it :nenau

Stop and Go repair kit and rat tails. Compressor. 4 meter towing strap. Disc lock.

Same here, no amount of tools would've helped the couple of times I've been at the side of the road......... When riding abroad or in a long trip I carry a couple of spanners and stop & go kit.
42 years!!!!
Yep, Riding since I was 16 :D

I haven't broken down in this country since I bought my GS 18 years ago and haven't had a puncture (anywhere) since 1991 - I ride all year round.

So errrrr nothing

Yes but you can fix a bike with debris found in the gutter...

I carry stuff to fix a puncture and tools in case someone knows how to fix my bike but has no tools :D

I fixed my old mini when I was 18 with a metal nail file found in the gutter and a matchstick.

Stupid sticking float in the carb, thankfully it had slotted screws holding the float bowl on.

Always carry a spare alternator belt on a Euro trip and a small socket set, but that's all.

Always have a cable and lock in the top box, and a map. But after that the only things I add are a puncture kit, bulb kit and hi viz vests for France, but only on the Pan, as the 850 never goes abroad. Binned the breathalysers after the dates ran out on them.
My only breakdown was also unfixable on the road (input splines).

However, in my tank bag I always have pen, paper, camera, autocom kit, phone, wet wipes, alternate visor, earplugs, torch, fuses and cable ties, and spare glasses.

I started at 16 too but I've now been riding for 45 years!
How can that be if we're the same age?:rolleyes:

Well in my school days 16 add 42 was (and still is) 58. Haven't a clue how your maths teacher gets 58 from adding 16 and 45 ? Must be a scottish thing..
