Above , the 10 min catch up recorded him phoning for assistance as he couldn’t stop the bleeding. Must have been pretty frightening after a bad tumble to find blood pouring out of you and wont stop! Pity as he is a balsey rider and this would have been his third Dakar?

I have seen an Audi in the highlights reels, not sure why they're not mentioned, perhaps it's a privateer rather than the factory.

Within the Eurosport coverage of Stage 11, the Dakar Legends piece documents 1980, when Piaggio entered 4 Vespas into the Dakar. Other than slightly bigger wheels, wider bars and trick exhausts they were pretty much standard. From 4 starters, 2 finished. What an absolutely brilliant achievement, and what a great event it is, that allows (or allowed, probably) this kind of utter insanity. It's well worth watching if you have Eurosport access.
