Within the Eurosport coverage of Stage 11, the Dakar Legends piece documents 1980, when Piaggio entered 4 Vespas into the Dakar. Other than slightly bigger wheels, wider bars and trick exhausts they were pretty much standard. From 4 starters, 2 finished. What an absolutely brilliant achievement, and what a great event it is, that allows (or allowed, probably) this kind of utter insanity. It's well worth watching if you have Eurosport access.
