Time to start thinking about the Dakar!

Please does anyone know what channels will be showing coverage? And other than the official website, any other sites that offer decent up to date content?

With the likes of Kove taking this event more seriously, it’s set to become even more interesting.

Had forgotten presume it will be on Eurosport again.

Taking a keen interest this year. Met Frenchman Mathieu Doveze (bike 21 this event) while he was training in Portugal last month.

We sponsored him and his training buddy for dinner twice 🤣. I was talking to him about the come down of being back on civvy street after a couple weeks bike tour (or a Rally Raid event in his case)

He said that when he is back home and travelling as a passenger in his girlfriends car at 80 KMH he feels like he could easily jump out of that moving vehicle as the pace seems so slow.

I love to watch the trucks. Amazing bits of machinery.

James Hillier flying the flag.

They were selling signed pages of his route map at Goodwood last year for a fiver or tenner I can’t remember exactly but I thought it was a brilliant idea to raise funds.

Thanks for the reminder, I'm hoping Mason Klein goes well on the Kove (y) . Eurosports seems to have it (E1 and E2) from today.

I was looking for Sam Sunderland’s name, only to find him in a four wheeler with Toby Price. Interesting!

Never mind Kove , Arsey has persuaded Nasser Al Attiya to switch from the class leading Toyota to Dacia this year.

I use this utube channel for daily updates , its short though at under ten minutes every day.

Last year Red Bull TV ( Freeview app) carried half hour episodes. I looked this morning and its all about the pre race and the switch of Sam Sunderland and Toby Price to four wheels. As TP says” with age comes the cage”.

Great Bike footage on Eurosport this evening, nutters the lot of them :DD, but clearly a passion.

One man down I think, just the usual collarbone (although this crash bent a plate in his shoulder he already had from a previous crash).

The guy I'm following (Mason Klein) is outside the top 10 so didnt really get any focus understandably in the footage, running 20th after stage 1.

James Hillier has had a bad day, breaking his nose. Hoping to carry on tomorrow 🤔

Sure is dangerous. The guy I’m following DOVEZE 21 was showing us a big sticky up bone bit in his shoulder that looked freaky.

The level of fitness needed is unreal. Hats off to all the competitors. Stage 2 marathon looks like a grueller.

Our man on the bikes Doveze is out on stage 3. Crashed the bike, smashed up the tower. Tried some repairs but couldn’t continue. ☹️

Because he is in Rally2 he will restart after rest day. A pal of mine with a successful construction business sponsored him after meeting him in Portugal and so we are in a Whatsapp group with him and he left an update as well as apologizing!

"had some problem with locals who didn't like the rally going through camel camp" That's Dakar I guess.
