anybody know how the 'legroom' on the dakar compares with the 1150GS? I'm considering a swap and at 6ft 3 with long legs found the legroom tight on the 1150, had to have peg lowerers on it. Dont really want to pay for another set of lowerers.

cheers,

Ian

Ian,

I borrowed a Dakar the other week when my 1150 was in for service and found it very small - kept looking around for the piza delivery box on the back! Rather than spend the day out and about on it I parked it up until it was time to go back and pick up my GS and then did an extra 40 miles to get home:D

I'm 6' and found it small, you are taller than me and will probably have even more problems.

I've just had the opposite.....

I had a brand new 1150gs as a courtesy bike whilst my dakar was in for service. I'm about 6' 1" tall, and the 1150 felt quite a bit lower than my dakar, I could easily get both feet flat down - the dakar's a bit tippy-toe sometimes :) . I took the 1150 for quite a bit of a run... as you do ;) and found that whilst the 1150 is a lazier, less frantic experience than the dakar, come the end of the day, I felt cramped in the leg room department on the 1150.

Further investigation required....

Well I would have done, except the 1150 decided to dump most of it's petrol on my garage floor overnight - the fuel union below the right hand lobe of the fuel tank had expired :( ...... necessitating a ride back to the dealer in the recovery wagon.

I'm 6'2" (6'3" in the mornin' :D) and have no problems with legroom on my Dakar.......... :thumb

The seat on long journeys tho..................:mooney

Having test rode an 1150, I found it felt lower than my 650........and that was with the seat on highest setting.

Best bet is to test ride one.
