It was predicted that today in the first of the stages with sand would be tough, and so it has turned out. At the end of the stage, Cyril Despres is now in the overall lead with 10 minutes over Casteau. Marc Coma and David Fretigne both had tough days - esp Fretigne.
Philip Noone was 118th thru the 74km marker post, and in 99th at 117km so hopefully all is well with him......
