Hi folks,
just wondereing if someone could measure the distance between the mounting points on their rear fender/mudguard thing from their F650GS/Dakar (not sure if the same item). I've added a pic, to show you the part I'm on about (not sure, but I think this is from a 2000 model). I'd like to know the measurements on either side, to see if this part would fit my new G650GS.

I'm hoping by fitting one, I'll be able to keep the dirty water/muck off the rack/pillion/seat, etc....they any good for this?

Also (:)), any idea of the part number, by any chance? My local dealer hasn't a clue!

I took the huge plastic lump off my old F650 and made an alloy chainguard at work as it seemed to be more to protect cars from flying stones than to protect the bike.
sorry I cant help with the measurements as my new G650GS arrives this week

Johnny, do those splash guard things actually work? I'd seen them, but never seen one on a bike. They do seem a good idea, and would rather one if they worked as well as they (TT) say they do.

They do and are very effective (for what they are)

Had them on my Dakars/R1200GSA/R1100GS/R1150GS and now R1150GSA over the years

re rear mudguard

hi jonny
my bike is a 05 plate 650 dakar.
just been in my garage to measure the mudguard mounts for you.
please note the hole center measure ments below are as a rough guide only as i measured with the guard still on the bike.

L/H 123mm

R/H 149mm
as regards part number try Rainbow m/c in Rotherham.
hope this helps. best regards Ronnie. :beerjug:

Hi Ronnie, it was me after the dimensions :) It seems that the left side is exactly the same, 123mm, but the right side is quite a lot out - mine measures about 250mm. Did you mean 249mm by any chance?

After reading the above, I may try one of the TT splashguards to start with, due to price.

Thanks

re rear mudguard

hi mark7rr
sorry to confuse you but just checked again.
r/h mount is actually approx 250mm.
hope this helps. Ronnie. :beerjug:

Cheers Ronnie,

I've managed to pick up a TT splash guard really quite cheaply, so will give that a go first.

Thanks for the measurements though fella :thumb

Just to confirm, the rear cow scoop from the earlier F650GS 04-07 will fit the G650GS without modification.

Just taken mine off mate, If you don't get on with the TT one then give me a shout ... you can have it for the cost of postage :thumb

Thanks very much fella, seems like the TT is ok, still a bit of spray ends up on the back end though.... I'll PM you :thumb2

actually, scrub that, I'm not allowed to PM you yet, frustratingly! I'd be interested to give it a go though, but don't really want to put my address etc out in the open :)

Jona, if you read this, I'd like to take you up on your offer of the chain guard/rear splash guard please :)

Not sure how I can contact you etc, as I'm not able to PM you for some reason....anyone got any ideas?

Cheers! :thumb
