Beautiful weather for a ride, yet again................so decided to ride my favourite Dales today

Headed out from home towards Swaledale, via Leyburn - where I bumped into UKGSER Phooey - Chris and his wife Beth and chatted to them for a good while.

Headed out over Grinton Moor

Into Reeth and Swaledale proper

Swaledale is much photographed, especially in summer and is famous for its buttercup meadows and stone barns

Late lunch at my favourite 'watering hole' in Thwaite

After lunch it was over to Hadraw and garsdale and on towards Sedbergh - some good views of the Howgill Fells, away to Cumbria

Made my way to Devil's Bridge and saw a lovely cafe racer

Not used this route back to Dent much, but it's another little used and traffic free route via Barbon Dale

Further on you get a view of Dentdale - the dales are famous for the 'light and the land' and this picks this feature up well, in the 'land of big skies'

More buttercup meadows, outside Dent

View of the rail viaduct @ Nenthead, not as 'famous' and photographed as its sister viaduct - Ribblehead

Spotted a Vincent in Hawes

Managed a few dusty trails too, throughout the day - just to get away from everyone else. This one is 3 miles long and runs along a ridge high up in Wensleydale, you feel on top of the world looking down on the splendid views below

Headed up your way this weekend with my better half, any recommendations for a good camp site in the Yorkshire Dales. Also looking at doing some lanes (2 up), again, any recommendations welcome. Cheers.

High Laning @ Dent (as Micky says) looks good, but I'm sure others will recommend others

Good campsite at the Green Dragon, Hardraw near Hawes

The usual good report Johnny

2nd the call for Dent campsite. Nice if you want a normal carry on in a great location with great pubs....

Fantastic photo's JB, would have love to have been up there with you, but only got back yesterday from a week in the Eifel's with Micky. Give me a call when your going up there again, we can then give them there Xchallenge's a good run.
