Right I popped in to Avuss toay (local KTM dealer) and had a look see at the 990 Adventurer, now that a nice bike and I'm sorely tempted to take a test ride and see what they'll offer for my 1150GSA.

Initial thoughts, nice looking bike, not as high as it appears (the seats narrower so I can get ma wee legs to reach the floor), still undecided about the twin tanks, looks like an accident waiting to happen, That screen doesn't look very effective is it any good.

has anybody else went from a 1150GSA to the 990Adventurer ?
what did you think, how do they compare and did youmake the right choice ?
What should I look out for on an Ex-demo KTM if I decide to go that route ?
How'd KTM keep there price ?
How easy is it to do home servicing ?
Do they use a Canbus system like the 1200GS
what the rainge of the tanks ? I hear there thirsty but don't seem to able to find figures

any other pointers/info/thoughs would be helpful

cheers

ive been the ktm route after my first GS and a year later im back with a GS ADV

my bike came from Avuss and their service is firsts class a really good bunch of people:thumb2

the 990 does not use a Canbus system.
the screen though small is very effective with little or no buffetting, im 6ft 7in
fuel, if you have the after market pipe with the mapping fuel will go down from 160-180 miles per tank to the low fuel light to 140-160 to the fuel light.19ltr tank as opposed to the 950 thats 22lts because the fuel pump is installed in the tank on the 990s

servicing costs dont seem to far off BMWs prices but they are at every 4500miles so if like me you doing 15-20000 miles a year its a bit costly.
and that is one engine i personally wouldnt want to fiddle around with.

residual values are not as good as BMW but that might change with KTMs price hyke this year

BUT what a bike:cool:and what an engine:cool:
fast,great handling i loved it

try it you will love it , but it will make you missbehave:D

however now im back on a GS im supprised by how much im enjoying it:thumb2

What he said

I love mine so much I don't care about service cost fuel etc

If that came down to my biking I'd have a C90:D

Fantastic bike and Avuss are the best bike shop I have encountered:clap
