Having dropped my bike on black ice two weeks ago, I’ve discovered that my left hand adventure pannier now won’t close properly as it’s slightly misaligned. It’s just a little out on the front corner nearest the bike. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get it back into the right shape? I’m struggling to come up with anything other than a whack with a hammer am pretty sure that this will not work and will probably worsen matters.

Try putting a piece of wood on the area you are going to hit and hit the wood or you will end up denting the pannier.
also do it in small steps as you don't want to stretch the material.
Hope this helps.

I’m guessing the box has deformed from a rectangle to a parallelogram at the top.

measure from corner to corner, should be the same, (and same as other side, I guess)

get a bit of wood, say 2-3’ long, and another bit a little less than the shorter diagonal,

put the long bit inside the corner you want to stretch and the short bit resting on it, against the other corner, and pull gently. It’ll feel springy, and then “give” a little.

(It’s important not to be pulling hard enough for it to give a lot!)

re-measure and repeat as required.

As above, and also check the hinges are not bent, I did on my last GSA and as well as not being a rectangle, one of the hinges had deformed slightl.

You could always take it down to your local bodyshop and ask if one of their panel beaters can take a look (y)
