Sterted the fekker on the stand with the chain still on the back wheel :blast - needless to say it stalled and I switched off immediately (one day I'll get that gear indicator fixed  )

And two probs ensued:

1. See pic - I've now tightened things up and it looks OK

2. Now when turned on the start up procedure looks all OK but there is no response whatsoever from the start button.

Question - does the computer refuse to allow a start when there has been a brake line leak?

If not what is stopping the start ??

Has it got ABS? (Doesn't look obvious in the photo)

Could any of the ABS components have been damaged?

Greg

Have you damaged the lead to the speed/abs sensor doobry?

Clutching at straws..

:nenau

It shouldn't affect the startup at all. Having damaged a rear caliper with leaking fluid on an ABS shod bike, I could ride around happily (sort of happy IKWYIM).

A few years ago there was a damaged ABS lead on SWMBO's 650GS. The ABS warning lights wouldn't stop flashing until it got fixed.

It could be that the EMS is now more sophisticated and will stop the bike even starting if any of the circuitry is damaged.

How about switching off the abs and trying again. I think the rear abs sensor is also the bike speed sensor. So check it by-ignition on and , in neutral spin the back wheel. Do you get a reading on the speedo ?
Its not in gear is it ?
Daft one this, is the kill switch set to run - the fuel level display disapears if its off. Well it did on mine!
Or how about disconnecting the battery, leave it a few minutes reconnect, do the tps thing and have another go.
Good luck
Expensive one this...wonder if its buggered the starter motor somehow, comming to a dead halt like that.

Are you pulling the clutch in to start?

Is the side stand down?

Find neutral mechanically (for safety) whilst on the centrestand. Pull the clutch in and try to start. Any joy ??:nenau If your gear indicator is lying to the bike, the only way to start when the bike thinks it is in gear is with the clutch pulled in.

Looks like your rear caliper banjo bolt and sealing washers need sorting, an easy enough fix. Presumably servo ABS so you need to bleed the pump unit under the tank to get the air out of the rear brake system.
