On my Rocket 3 I run a 225 55 16 car tyre , handles fine.
Has anyone run a car tyre on the rear of a GS ?? Bridgestone do a 175 55 17 (RE 040).
My Rocket gets around 6k out of a bike type tyre, and there are R 3's getting 30k+ out of a car type tyre.
Ride free,
Gary

Ok on the Rocket, you run 22 lb pressure, the side walls just bend and you get more surface area on the road than a bike tyre.
Been on ADV and 175 wont fit a 4" rim, is the GS Adv a 4" rim??
otherwise I need a 155 55 17
Googling now

Pick a tyre.......any tyre.........now show me where it says....for car use only...

Good luck to you but if you think a car tyre will enhance a GS you must be off your rocker. Why the feck would you WANT to do it anyway?????

you wouldn't need side or centre stand anymore..:rob :D

Have a bad accident on the bike when it is fitted with car tyres and the insurance will invalidate your cover

Quite apart from the shape not being right, I wouldn't want a tyre with rubber that's 5x harder (30k vs 6k - and anyway I wouldn't say 6k is particularly bad for tyre wear). Generating grip causes it to wear out and you can't have one without the other.

Also if you run at low pressure and rely on the side wall to flex, then you're using the tyre in a mode that it wasn't designed for.

At the end of the day you have 2 bikes worth about £13k each. If you really want to reduce your outgoings by a couple hundred pounds then sell one.

Well - I've read some idiotic tripe on here over the past ten years or so, but this just absolutely takes the biscuit!

What kind of utter fekkwit would want to ruin the one of the best-handling machines on the road?

Go back to the R3, mate - preferably in a darkened room somewhere and keep it off the road away from me!

why?

No!

Ever wondered why?

Just consider how heavy your bike is, the cornering forces involved, the tiny contact area with the road.....all that.
Then consider what kind of lean angle a car tyre is designed for...

Just hope you don't take some other fecker out with you when you go.....
