Dash lights going mad

Chaos has descended on my 1150. Not content with the misfiring issue I've now got dash board problems. It doesn't seem to be rain related but for the first 5 minutes of the bike being started I loose the Neutral and Battery indicator. Then both come on when in neutral but only at 1/2 brightness, like they are running in series.

Oil light and indicators fine.

I'm after any hints before the tank comes off and I start the search...

Classic symptoms of a faulty earth. Probably somewhere around the area of the bulbs thmselves so you'll probably need to take the clocks off.

Doubt it will help with the misfire though.

do a search on this topic as quite a few bikes (including my own) have had similar symptoms and it was the wiring loom that runs from the clocks down the Right hand side of the headstock. Water ingress causes failure of the earth wires there but a little bit of soldering, heat shrink and self amalgamating tape sorted mines out. I must confess to having been a little concerned when it first happened as I was in the Dolomites and it was a long way home from there.
