I have recently bought a R1150GS ABS
and when I start the bike the ABS warning lights on the dash do not blink as they are supposed to
the bike rides fine
. Im just not convinced the ABS is functioning
can anybody help ??

Consider yourself lucky and ride as normal :thumby:

You need to clarify what year. Pre 2003 non servo brakes will be fine, servo brakes and you either do a absectomy and remove it all or potentially replace expensive bits.

First point of call with abs is always the fuse and the gap between sensor and abs ring (the feeler gauge should be in your tool kit :thumb2

Try it and see. Might be best to try and lock up the back wheel first.

It would help if you told us how they flash and if it has servo/abs or just abs as they flash differently.

Thanks for the answers so far
the bike is a 2001
the dash lights do not work at all even at start up
i have no idea if it is servo or not
the brakes are linked if that helps
this is my first BMW

2001 models are ABS only. The brakes aren't linked.

Look in the relay box, is the ABS relay in place ?

If it's anything like mine, the previous owner removed the bulbs.

I bought a few extras - pm me if you want a couple.

Ehm Does it have ABS at all ??

Left fork leg Should look like this if it has ABS II
