DATE CHANGE - SE meet-up Christmas 2026 - 02 December - Venue etc

The next six-weekly ‘meet-up’ date falls on the 18th November.

It’s been proposed to move it into December, bringing it closer to Christmas. No date was agreed, but how about Wednesday 02 December? This would, I guess, bring us in ahead of the busiest Christmas weeks 50 and 51.

As usual, we’ll need to secure a venue, please. It would also be handy to have a grip on the numbers. - We now have a venue, see post #17

As regards a venue, in the past we have done: Curry, Italian (thrice or more), Chinese, several times (although the venue closed down, sadly). Usual stuff, anywhere within the Oyster Card zone, or in reasonable proximity over its boundary. We have been as far afield as Watford Junnction’ish!

I enjoyed the last meet at the Victoria but 2/12 will clash with an evening class, which I would rather not miss.

VENUE

18:00 Meet in the York pub, on the corner of Duncan Street and Upper Street, close to Angel tube station. I’d hope to be there from about 17:30.




19:00 Mangia Bene, Chapel Market



Regulars to the SE get togethers will remember that this was the Italian restaurant chosen by ‘the woodster’ earlier this year. It worked well then and should, I’d hope, work well again. We are just ahead of the Christmas rush, which is an advantage.

Anyone wanting to go straight to the restaurant, please just let us know, so we don’t end up wondering where someone is.

Angel is pretty central, with good connections via the Northern Line to Euston, King’s Cross, Moorgate, Bank and London Bridge or northwards right up to Barnet / Edgeware or southwards as far as Morden. Waterloo, too via ‘The Drain’ to Bank.

At the moment, I have made a booking for eight persons, secured by my credit card. There’s six on the list so far, so we have two spare spaces. I am happy to contact the restaurant to see if I can extend this number.
