If you guys could vote on the top distilleries, and pubs which would be the top few? Want to tour a few. Comin June 3rd till 13th stayin just outside of Pitlochry

distillery

Edradour-just outside Pitlochry, well worth a visit--and a fine dram.
The Famous Grouse Experience- Crieff-Glenturret Distillery also good value, and quite handy.
Then you'll need to travel to Speyside for loads of distilleries, some well known, some less so, all fairly near to each other.
All of the best involve ferry crossings, and probably overnight stays, so are probably not practical.

I love Edradour, my sort of Whisky, and when you buy a coffee you get a free mug, they know their customers well.....:D

There are a number of very good distilleries not far from Edradur as well. The House of Dewar is situated at Aberfeldy Distillery which is but a short drive from Pitlochry, and the Blair Athl Distillery is in Pitlochry itself, but you can do better.

Having visited Edradour I would keep on the same road. A reasonable drive to Kirkmichael and the Glenshee gives wonderful views and if you continue past the ski centre, you will eventually arrive at Balmoral, summer holiday castle of the Royal Family. More importantly, you will also be at the home of the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, one of only three allowed to use the 'Royal' nomenclature.

Another alternative (how many can there be?) would be to head up the A9. There is the Dalwhinnie Distillery and further on the Badenocch Distillery which may not be open for visitors when you are here.

Dalwhinnie is owned by Diageo and is one of their original six Classic malts. It is not such a heavy whisky as some others.

Speyside

If you can go north I'd look into the Speyside distilleries in Moray. Aberlour, Glenlivet etc. They are all pretty close to each other.

Never been myself but countryside is stunning, good walking and Aberlour is a fine drop.

Probably about 1.5-2hrs from Pitlochry. Make a night of it and you could probably get Benromach and Glen Moray in too.

The Glenlivet

Best Single Malt made by man.

Hmmmm...........

Mibbies your spelling will improve as you improve your taste in whusky:thumb2

IMHO ..... Wully's whisky rules:

No.1: "If it's been filtered or coloured - it's shyte"

No.2: "If it tastes good to you, then it is good"

No.3: " Rule No.2 over rides Rule No.1- if your buying"

Wish I wasn't allergic to the stuff -I've a terrible terrible bad reaction to it unfortunately :( :bluesn2s

I have a similar bad reaction (eventually) - I think most of us will know the symptoms.

In Canada we say there is no such thing as bad beer ,sex or pizza. Just some is better then others. I think Scotch could be added to the list, Thanks for the replys, any other must see's or do's let me know. Dave
