Day Free !! Peaks on Sat 25th July

I may actually have a day to myself on Saturday 25th, I am visiting friends near Barnsley on Friday night and was staying over so looking at a ride in the peaks on Saturday. I have not been round here on a bike before, well been off road a few times, but asking if anybody would either act as a guide and show me some of the best roads or others just to meet and have a ride round for the day?

Any recommendations on good roads?

The Peaks are Ok but my advice would be to head into the Dales

There are plenty of good roads, many spoilt by 50mph limits and clogged with traffic.

If you feel you really must take a look around wetton mill, manifold valley, Hulme end and Hartington.

If you look on bing maps and set the maps to ordnance survey you won't go far wrong with any b roads or un numbered

Stay out of Buxton and bakewell to avoid traffic and you will do okay.

Stay off the A6 as much as possible.

Matlock bath is a popular bike meet but is likely to be empty on a Saturday.
