Time for the first ride since November :thumb2

Still wasn't sure on the morning as the snow from the previous day was still on the ground in town - the Dales wouldn't be any better.

Gave the dog a good walk and set off later to let the sun do it's work.

Within 5 mins of setting off - problem  The screen had misted up with steam  Pulled over to investigate and attracted a number of helpful passerbys all giving admiring comments on the bike.

All I can think is I gave the bike a spring clean at the weekend and some water must have stayed put in the oil radiator which had effectively worked as a kettle :nenau

Anyway onwards to Otley cafe for a full breakfast with chips black pudding and spam £3.30 with a tea :thumb

Set off over the moors

Still not confident about about back roads, especially after the shaded descent down from the Chevin, so kept to main roads for the morning.

Next stop Ripon.

Came back to the parked bike to meet an old Tosser :beerjug: Apparently he used to be a Mod but due to personal circumstances is currently without bike. The way he kept looking over my shoulder I thought he was waiting for his Mrs to appear, but I realised he had a cab in the taxi rank and was keeping an eye on the queue.

Next Masham for a coffee.

A number of bikers around, all taking it easy on the roads. The next run up to Swaledale had warning signs out at one point with Police tape wrapped around some trees. However most roads were good, just a debris line on the centreline.

The river Swale.

An excellent day, worth the effort. Bring on 2010 :beerjug::Motomartin:JB

I'm hoping the weather holds out until the weekend so I can get the bike out into the Dales  Second ride this year, but it was still too cold and the roads too slimy to enjoy the few hours we had out in January too much :(

Bit chilly up near Menwith Hill today,I'm on with a barn conversion, just out of shot,to the left of your picture.
Lovely day for a ride though,lucky sod.:thumb

Hi,

You have taken some lovely photos.......real high quality.:thumb

Which camera are you using????

Your Red Gsa even looks good, then again there is no Magnesium to compare to. (They are always in front!!):augie

Last Sunday was the first time this year my wife got her bike out. She was so excited, it had been so long since she sat on the bike it was like collecting a new one. We only managed Masham before dark clouds closed round us, we called in at Lofthouse and Patley Bridge on the way back. By the time we were home she was feeling confident again and looking foreword to this years touring.

I had a good ride out on Saturday, very icy once you climbed away from the valley bottom roads. After a lunch stop at Feizor the ice had almost melted so I had a lovely ride over to Glissan dock and back over the Trough of Bowland. Just starting to get cold and dark at 5.30 before I got home.

Im up early this morning in anticipation of a long ride through the Lake district.
Its 6.25 am, 5.3C outside and never fell below 4C all night. Wind 0 mph and a steady barometer reading. It should be perfect riding conditions.

Wish that I had invested in a digi-camera. What Len's you use??

My photos of menwith hill from that part of the dales makes those radar domes look like small white dots.
