OK thx for all the advice had a good if slightly damp trip to Scotland, also my route planning was slightly scuppered by my customer (who wanted me to work through one of the nights

), the RAF Tornado crash (that closed the A83) and the weather.
Instead of having 1 complete day spare, I more or less ended up with 2 half days spare but still did a lot.
Loved the route from Torrance through Fintry over the Dukes Pass
and on to Killin
.
- because a) I wanted to avoid the side of Loch Lomond due to the RAF incident and b) I did the 3 Lochs Drive so missed some of the Pass, I ended up doing the Dukes Pass to Killin junction section twice on different days
On the Thursday - I went up through Ben Lawers
Then on to Bridge of Balgie - the post office/tearoom was closed
and came back over Ben Lawers
to Crainlarich and Loch Lomond - did not know about the RAF incident at the time so got tangled up in the mixture of lorries, caravans and buses between Crainlarich and Tarbet - and caught a nice short thunderstorm/downpour
On the Friday went to Glen Orchy
Then headed down Loch Awe (on the Ford road) when the heavens opened again. Got to Leacainn Forest Drive and despite the weather decided to go for it

.
Check out the torrent under the bridge
and I finally got the GS a bit muddy
It was worth it though - bet the views are amazing when it is not raining
As I was not really sure how long it would take to continue and it was still chucking it down kind of headed back after this so did not go down to Cambeltown, given a whole day, no road diversions and good weather I think it was easily possible to do.
I also had an interesting time on the way home on Saturday:
Went through the Borders
- Peebles, Hawick and on to Kielder Forest
Mainly cos I noticed that the 3 Lochs Forest Drive was on my map, and spotted the one in Kielder was also on the map.
Then to really get the set - Wrynose and Hardknott Pass - yes I am mad
For anyone that's interested some GPX files:
3 Lochs Forest Drive
(note this is a one way street with an honesty box for entry)
Leacainn Forest Drive
Kielder Forest Drive
(This also has a small fee for entry - using a pay and display type machine)
