Hi, as above, has anybody got any first hand/foot experience of the Daytona Arrow Sport GTX boot ???

No direct experience BUT I can tell you straight away what's wrong with them...they don't come far enough up your leg AND they have no lateral protection. In crash, you might as well be wearing Converse All-Stars. In fact, the All-Stars would be better because at least (before the crash) they look cool.

Apart from that, they look just fine...

PS the idea of goretex ankle boots is also a touch flawed. Unless you wear waterproof pants that are six inches longer than your legs, or ride at a maximum of 4-5 mph, what's to stop the water coming in over the top???

Exactly,
totally pointless.

I have a pair of "ankle" TCX Goretex boots and they keep me dry. I have very chunky ankles (one of them with some metal work) not to mention footballers calves,
I have trouble finding full height or eve 3/4 height zipped boots that I'm able to fasten.
In an ideal world I'd be wearing Daytona Roadstar or TCX X-Tour Evo.

My old gortex Alpinstars ankle boots have years of use and keeps my feet fairly dry. biggest advantage is you can walk normally and in comfort.
The model is discontinued and i cannot find good replacments.

I have some short Daytona boots - in fact 2 pairs, both bought from this forum for £60 each pair. These Rainbow GTX are my favourites

I also have the Journey XCR http://www.daytona.de/index.php?page=805

They are nominally the same size but the XCR is wider so I wear them in the winter with thicker socks.

The Rainbows are my main touring boot and have been simply excellent. The comments from the other poster are not entirely accurate. These boots have the same ankle protection and metal plate in the sole to prevent a crush injury as you get in the Road Star. I have never been able to have my trousers inside my boots due to massive calf muscles so these suit me, as my textile and leather trousers go over the outside. I can wear the Rainbows off the bike, even comfortable in the office all day.

They do not protect your shins as much so flying debris can hit you. As for water coming up your trouser leg, yes it can happen if you go through standing water but as far as rain is concerned, if your trousers overlap the boot then your feet stay dry.

I was in Cotswold BMW yesterday and Nick was very envious of my Rainbow boots as BMW do not sell anything similar - he reckons he would sell shedloads if they had something like that in the range.
