Yep - deffo top kit. I’m on my second pair (just). The first pair did well over a decade, including a slide down the north circular which trashed helmet, suit and gloves. Boots got a tad scuffed but cleaned up nicely and did another three or four years…

had Daytona boots since my first GS in 2011, first pair lasted over ten years the grip eventually wore out, now on my second pair. Never ever had wet feet out riding and ive been in some major sustained downpours, full days of rain. Wouldn't buy anything else, they are quality.

Now got the all clear from the consultant to start riding again so I went off to Race Leathers in Darwin with the intent to buy a pair of Roadstar Pro boots.

Unfortunately, although the front and rear of the boot can peel down I had the same problem as with my Altbergs......I simply could not get my damages/still swollen foot past the section of the boot whet the foot joins the leg.

Race Leathers were spot on and the lady who served me was very polite and patient. Eventually after trying on numerous boots I settled on a pair of Daytona AC Classics. Although these are shorter boots and do not give shin protection, I can get them on and they are comfortable. Race Leathers also gave me a great discount so that they were cheaper than the Sportsbikeshop.

A big thumbs up for Race Leathers of Darwin!

Imho, the Altbergs are very well made, but the Roadrunner, which is pretty much they’re only true bike boot, only affords as much actual protection as Daytonas most basic boot. Unless they’ve improved them since we stopped and looked in at Richmond a few years back. Go with the Daytonas.
