Hi,

i am looking to purchase some new boots, something that will be suitable for a sports bike and offer good protection also.

Have a new pair of Rallye 3 HG Gtx boots which are fine on GS but a bit much on sports bike

Found a vendor selling Daytona Toron GTX at €199 and think its a good price but i had never come across the model before.

Anyone used them? Whats protection like?

Also, anything else worth looking at for €200?

Thanks

Havent tried them but found my Road Star GTXs fine on both my S1000 that I had and my GS so can highly recommend them :thumb2

I've got a pair of Daytona Gortex boots that are over twenty years old now. Daytona replaced the gear change pads a few years ago for me, they're still totally water-proof.

I have another pair of Daytona short boots now, they're just as good, very comfy, warm and dry.

I have no idea how much protection either pair would provide in a spill and don't intend finding out. :D

I have a pair of Daytonas that are about seven years old, not sure whether they're Torons or not but they look pretty identical to a google image!

They've been bloody brilliant - never leaked, come up like new when I polish them, velcro and zips are bullet proof. They may not quite look the part compared to some, but yer can't knock their build quality ... :thumb

SWMBO bought a pair from Hein Gericke a few months ago and she is very pleased with them. She can't speak for their crash protection as yet:)

Thanks guys,

I like the style of the Daytonas but would like good protection and dont want 'race' boots if possible.

Glad no one has had experience relying in their protection too :thumb2

Its hard to get the best of both worlds. Either look like Rossi and have the protection but I still ride like his nan or find something with good protection that is a little less flashy.

I might check out the other Daytonas too.

Giles & Bob Southgate; what do you think of the protection in those boots just on your opinion from having a pain in you hands?

Thats the worst part of me buying mail order

The daytonas I've had have been 100% but the fitting is a bit on the narrow side, worth trying them on rather than buying online

I've just compared them with my own Road Star GTX's and the levels of protection in both seem broadly similar. Flex of the sole is about the same and both have the same level of protection around the ankle.

Thanks Bob, much appreciate you checking that out for me. torn between the Road Stars and the Toron now :)

grea boot, totally waterproof, have spent all day in lashing rain wearing them and bone dry, off roading in wales last summer, standin in two feet of water with wets on and was bone dry, def recommend them, the lads that were with me were wearing bmw boots, they were soaked !

Thanks Duc:thumb2 Was that wearing the Toron?

I have a new pair of Rallye boots as well and want these for general wear on both the GS and fireblade.

Ended up coming across a new pair or Daytona Evo Sports GTX boots which are a perfect fit in 43 and seem to offer solid protection although I dont plan on testing them :)
