Dear friends, excuse me for my "spaghetti&pizza" english!

I fit an Akrapovic to my F800GS and these are the things I can consider.

WITH DBKiller: sound too quiet, few vibrations.

WITHOUT DBKiller: sound too noisy (sanction risky in Italy), too much vibrations.

But I need help from you to understand the difference in performance.

With or without the DBKiller I can note a big difference in the engine response but I can't understand which is better.

Why the DBKiller is removable for racing? Because I can get the best performance without the DBKiller?

A lot of people says that without DBKiller I lose low end, that the engine "emptys" at low end...

What is your feel?

You can just cut the DB killer don and it will improve the noise and still look fine from the outside. Alternately just drill some big holes in the side of the DB tube.

I cut mine down about half way on another bike and it gave me a mid position. You can always re weld it or buy a new DB killer.

I ride the GS without it though and decats and I still down't think it is that loud....

The GS you ride is an 800?

I listen a lot of 1200 without dbkiller but they aren't loud like the 800.

But I need to understand more about performance (expecially at low end).

The sound is a "gadget"...

I ride akrapovic without a DB killer and it sounds great, traffic/pedestrians/terrorist cyclists/mad pizza delivery men etc.... hear you earlier which is always a good thing.

Quick question - a DB killer cut in half - will that still get you through an MOT or would you need a complete one?

In England there is no reall requirement for exhausts just that it is not overly loud. If it had the DB killer in I can't see the problem. They can't tell it has been cut down without taking the securing bolt out and removing the baffle. Even then they would need to know what the standard one looks like.

Hey guys, i'm not focusing the sound!!!

I need your impressions about the performance and the fact that without the dbkiller there is poor low end!

There is a little more low end omph without it in but the difference is very marginal and not that obvious.

I would not buy the exhaust slip on just to try to get more go. You would be better I guess by going straight for a Power Commander. However Akra look better and sound better.....
