I put the battery on charge all friday night, before putting it back on the bike saturday morning.

The first thumb of the starter didn't sound to inspiring, but it did turn over. It did fire up, and i managed to get it to the dealers where they checked it out for about an hour.

They couldn't find anything wrong with it .

charging is fine and so was the battery. so it sounds like maybe there is a slightly defect starter solenoid in there somewhere?

i guess i'll just have to wait and see..

I had similar sounding problems with my GSA a couple of weeks ago with it fine one day and on trying to start with a fully charged battery the next day it managed a start but made only a half hearted attempt the next time. It sounded like a duff battery with the starter solenoid clicking. BM assistance were called and started it with their booster so I got to the dealer but on retrying the engine at the dealer the BM booster just wilted at the current draw and the engine refused to start. In the end turned out that the starter motor was the problem. My local dealer removed a motor from one of their secondhand stock and fitted it to mine to get me to the North West 200 but it seems that this motor was a brand new one that had been previously fitted to the bike in the showroom. just my tuppence worth but the symptoms do sound pretty similar. Had identical problem sometime ago.
Clicking solenoid, dying clock display, no starting.
Fitted brand new battery, bike fine, for a while, same problems returned.
Dealer checked it, nothing wrong found. Charging rates etc were perfect.
I then checked all the relays, found that the starter relay was not seated 100%. Fixed that and had no problems since.

That rules out the pixies theory straight away.

Never dismiss the pixies!!!!

They may not have nicked the battery, but I bet they stole the electrickery out of it, didn't they?
