For the last few weeks have been experiencing problems with the above and initially thought maybe my glove armour was cancelling them so removed the knuckle armour!! Still kept happening, especially on roundabouts. Would indicate on approach, check warning light was on and start manoeuvre only to often have a Kamikazee car driver pull across in front of me. Then I see the indicator is no longer on. Well it died completely yesterday on the way to work. Only a year old!! Rang my dealer, 75 miles away (!) who said get it recovered as it was dangerous. Result, as it saved me a 150 mile round trip, fuel, day off work etc. Had to be seen by a technician first though. Ok no problem there I thought. Except I was in Cornwall and he was coming from................. YEOVIL in SOMERSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have three for the South West. THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eventually common sense took hold and the guy drove down today, stopped at Plymouth to get the part then came on down West and fitted it. But what a ridiculous distance. No wonder they are so expensive when new!! :nenau

How far away from the junction were you when you made the indicator signal ?

The oh-so-clever computer on the 1200 models automatically cancels the indicators after about 12 flashes when moving to prevent you leaving a signal on. It keeps the indicators working if you are not moving ie sat at a junction waiting to turn. I don't know at what speed the auto cancel function starts at but I think its pretty slow, like 10mph or so. I always have to remake my left indicator when leaving a motorway slip road as at 70mph I make the indicators at the 300 yard counter and it auto-cancels just as I am exiting.:spitfire

sound like mine

had a similar fault on my 12gsa, first big service yesterday and they picked up a fauld and going to replace under warranty.

Have always made sure I pressed not only on approach and well back, but also literally just entering the roundabout as well. Same if I have been held up. In the end it just didn't work at all!!:spitfire

It's the indicator switch inside the switch block. The actual switch is covered with a rubber cap, this eventually cracks allowing water into the switch.
I had the left one go first and then a few weeks later, the right switch packed up.
I first noticed it when riding along and the left indicator came on. I thought I had switched it on but it wouldn't reset until I hit the cancel switch several times. It did this a number of times then failed totally. The right hand switch went the same way.
This was at around 16000kms.

Brian.
