Dead WC GSA nothing when turned on nil Nada

After a dealer drop test :)

Too true, my mates had to go in twice, 1st drop test and charge said it was ok :blast the bike had already been recovered because it wouldnt start while we were out.

After the 1st breakdown and test we took jump leads out with us

Next breakdown (next ride out a week later) jump start and back to dealer not in best of moods he left his bike there and took courtesy bike.

Apparently the dealer has to go through the drop test process and log it so that they can then replace under warranty :(

I've just had a recall notice from the dealer for a new replacement battery and side stand switch ! Maybe there's a batch of dud batteries ..

My 1200RT 2013 has had a dead battery as you describe. The dealer has replaced it without complaint, but I am curious as to why it went flat. Had this happen a couple of times. Could be a dud battery as you describe.

I also have a TomTom bracket and mine is wired it, and seems to be into the same circuit as the accessory socket as it stays powered up for around 10 mins and then powers down. I was wondering if the problem was related to the TomTom bracket.

What is interesting is if you measure the current being drawn from the battery at the point at which the ignition is switched off, it discharges at around 500mA for around 60 secs and then drops to 200mA for a period of time (minutes?) and then eventually to zero. I have no alarm fitted and the TomTom wasn't in the bracket. Wonder what it is powering?

Puggy.

You have answered your own question.

It is offering power to your GPS's device's cradle (and maybe some other periferals) for a number of minutes and then switching off completely to save your battery.

All the Canbus equipped bikes do it, so it's not peculiar to your bike, nor your Tom Tom.

Why? It's a useful feature as it allows you to say fiddle with your Tom Tom when you've stopped. This saves you having to turn the ignition on, fiddling about and then forgetting to turn it off again.

Getting the battery in and out is the work of Satan ! Side panel reluctant to fit after refitting . I have to take the whole bike not just the battery . It started after the recharge but there was a spark as I refitted with the ignition off . ? Canbus spark or something is live which would explain the dead battery . We'll see

turned out a guy renting my nearby coach house had gone in my garage to sit on it and play had left the ignition on . It's fine now charged

Keys

you leave your keys in the ignition:bow

So went to start my WC GSA this morning , nothing on the dash no lights no warnings nothing dead....

turned out a guy renting my nearby coach house had gone in my garage to sit on it and play had left the ignition on . It's fine now charged
Have I missed something here, did you not notice the ignition was already turned on when you discovered your flat battery.

He Came clean , He left it on , I didn't notice , I never leave it on . I never leave it unlocked now. When it was dead the optimate could not charge in situ as it does not detect any voltage . It needs 2 volts detectable to start its recharge . I fitted an optimate lead and it took 2 days to charge up from dead . All good now .If the guy does it again he has been warned I will kill him:mad:

That's pretty ballsy sitting on a guys bike and turning the ignition on. I'd be pissed if that were me good that he came clean though.

Wiring up a charger direct is always the best method as completely bypasses CanBus and its funny behaviours. I don't get what is so Heath Robinson. If anything, getting at hot terminals on the LC is a lot easier than the old model.

i thought it a lot easier on the TC , lift the seat there it is . Its hard wired now , but the foam cover the styrene plinth the rubber band and cheap plastic clips were a bit 2 bob for a not so cheap bike
