Hello to everyone at UKGSER.COM - I'm offering myself as a prospect here - please be kind and gentle - Been offered a 2002 (52 plate) R1150GS in the lighter yellow, 1 owner, heated grips, no ABS and that's about it, no luggage either for £4750.00 - oh and a low mileage of 7000 miles. :)
It's a private sale with a Parkers price shown of £3900 and I was considering more like £4250 but not acceptable unfortunately.
Looks like I'll be paying my £12 to join you lot here as I deffo want one. (have you seen the TT video on youtube?)

Any opinions on the price too - is it worth as much as asking - I know the low mileage is the main attraction and I'll end up paying for loadsa bling besides luggage, but is it worth the full whack?
Cheers for now
Gary

very low milage , if its a minter then have a haggle with the guy:thumb2, residual values on the 1150s are pretty good so the do tend to stay above the book price.

hello and welcome and good luck with the purchace:beerjug:

Too much for a private sale  that's a dealer price without the come backs move on imho

hi

i would pay that if its immaculate, and i was desperate to get one. but it really is top money, no abs, or luggage. and with winter around the corner.
maybe best to wait a week or two, if you loose it, you shouldnt loose any sleep, it might be £500 cheaper if not sold by december.

SERIOUS?

Must be serious! I just subscribed :JB
Thanks for the quick replies so far - Chad - intend getting back to try and haggle - Bisbee - Agree it's a dealer price but no form of guarantee and Nick, I tried the 'winter's approaching' angle but so far to no avail.
Thanks all 3 so far, guess ther'll be more advice and gratefully accepted - think the position of waiting a while is best and hope for a lower price in December, but for now I'm off to browse the FOR SALE section 'cos I'm paid up!!:beerjug:

Yes looks a little dear to me, for that price I would expect luggage and extras :augie

Dont get hung up on milage, theres lots about with huge milages.

Welcome to the site............:thumb2
You will be pleased to now that the mad bastard going round the IOM is a contributor on the site, I'll leave it to him to introduce himself :)

And yes His GS does sound that GOOD :bow

I paid around that for a dealer sale 02 GS 1150 in yellow with the same level of kit (ie, not a lot) but i did get a stupid trade in offer on a well thrashed 600 sports bike with 33,000 miles on it to offest the higher cost.

The dealer did however provide a 3 month warranty which i have hammered for all its worth to replace battery, starter motor, plugs, coil packs and a few others :augie

Now you have subscribed you will find better kitted bikes on here for sale at a lower price :thumb2

I tried the 'winter's approaching' angle but so far to no avail.

IMHO this angle doesn't work with GS's like it can with just about any other bike. What better bike is there for riding in our crappy weather. In fact it could actually work for the seller in some cases.

But I'd agree this one doesn't sound like its meant to be yours. Walk away, look elsewhere and if its still there in a few weeks repeat your offer. If it is meant to be yours it'll still be there.

I've seen this bike and was within a whisper of buying it........but I have 3 bikes and no more room.

Yes it is expensive, but its a one off. Roy at RGM knows the full history and has given it the thumbs up. I think it's the nearest you'll get to a 'new' 1150GS.

I actually put an add for this bike in the For Sale and Wanted section, I was that impressed. I think the seller (who I have met) is very genuine and believes it is worth that money. I'll be very surprised if you can get a penny knocked off.

Others will be around, but I went to see an ADV in Halifax a couple of weeks ago that was up at £6250 with full alloy luggage and described as immaculate which it was if you ignored the corroded fork brace, badly tarnished screen, scratched and dented panniers etc.etc

Happy hunting

Mike

.

Its nothing to do with how good or bad the bikes is at 'handling' the winter its to do with the fact that there genuinely are fewer buyers (of all types) at this time of year so bikes can be harder to sell.

Cheers all, some very interesting remarks. Keeping you up to date, just offered seller 4400 and still not interested  - looking elsewhere now to spend my readies, as stated there are plenty more out there and leaning more twd the GSA now too. :bounce1
Forgot to mention, it's NOT as perfect a history as I'd like for that kinda money as the seller did state it's had a new front end from when someone pulled out in front of him and although was at low speed, it was twisted to such an extent that the forks were replaced amongst other bits. Sure it was rebuilt to exacting standards and had he not told me I'd never had known, it was sorted through insurance and probably not on HPi list. Guess I'm just convincing myself that I don't really want it now - I'm lying of course - it's round the corner to me and I DO want it, BUT not at that price with so little in extras and the owner's not budging, so where to next , ah, Colwyn Bay, now there's a nice grey '03 adventure with 14k miles and full kit.... now where'd I put my telephone......
