Flameproof suit on!

This might be a stupid question, but has anyone got any form of discount when ordering a GS?? (1200 or 1150ADV)
I realise that there is a waiting list for the 1200 so I assume that there is no discount and everything is full price.

Is it the same story with accessories??

I have never had any dealings with BMW before so I've absolutely no idea (and I'm probably in for a nasty shock if/when I buy one!!)

:beerjug:

Funnily enough, here in Holland, BMW are offering a financing deal on a number of bikes, including the 1150 ADV. And there are several standard unsold 1150 GSes on dealer floors with good discounts at various dealers here as well.

But discounts on the 1200? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....

Maybe in 2 years time....

No discount BUT

In fairness I got a very good price for my trade in which wasn't a BeeEmm. Probably £300 over book value.

OK not a lot in the grand scheme of things but better than a poke in the eye.

discount - what discount

My experience has been, that there is no discount available on the 1200 itself, but a 5% discount on the panniers and other accessories.

I wonder what I'll be offered for my 2.5 year old 60,000 mile Kawasaki ER-5.

I got about £700 off my Adv a few weeks ago. This was a combination of discount on the bike and free/reduced options.

Ive kept a note of the private advert prices I've seen to dat ein MCN:

First Private Ad's:

07/04/04 MCN: 200 miles only, h/grips, ABS, pannier rails, alloys, red/grey. £12,000 No offers.

21/04/04 MCN: 400 miles, heated grips, panniers, yellow/grey. £10,995.

23/06/04 MCN: 300 miles, panniers, top box, heated grips. £10,500

14/07/04 MCN: 1200 miles, extras. £10,950

So essentially used are still going for more than list price, wich I think because of it's cult nature is a given with a new model big-bore GS.

Best bet for people is to haggle hard for the best part-exchange, hoping generous dealers will over-allow, else (as I did) sell privately to pocket the circa £1,000 or whatever difference before your bike arrives.

Mine arrived at the dealers yesterday, ready for delivery prior to 01st Sept registration; but I ordered in February :-D

The GS is quality and one thing that's always been synonymous with quality is that it don't come cheap! :-)

Back in May of this year I took a test ride on my local dealers 1200GS and was very impressed with what I found. My only reservation was the apparent lack of torque from the engine which sounded like a "tappety" lump of shite. I did, however, order a "GSDouze" with delivery at the end of September.

I hear 5% discounts are available off of list price.:dj

Now, now. It can't be that bad. It's in the best colour. Black. I might get a few quid for the ScottOiler and top box though :P

the margins on accessories are pretty low however if you haggle i am quite sure a 10% discount is achievable

I put my order in for a new Adventure just the other week and there was no mention of any discounts. Not surprising considering the popularity of the machine. However, and especially taking into account the state of the economy, there was a clear indication of a good trade in price for a Honda Pan European 1100.

I see it's 1 o'clock in da mornin' but come on guys, you are responding
to posts that are 4.5 years old :pullface

I ordered a GSA (premium / Dymamic packs and 3 cases for March delivery. I got £625 off, and a good price for my MINI Copper S from Wollastons in Northhampton. The sales guy Steve Nash was excellent.

Although there are dire economic conditions and they are giving cars away, bike sales are holding up well in comparison. For the record my MINI lost 10k in 18 months............. If the GSA is the same it will only be worth 3k next Autumn :augie

depends on buying times

Hi,

It depends on the dealer and when your planning on buying it. I bought mine end of quarter and ended up paying £12,400 for a 2007 GSA with pretty much all the bling.. oops I mean options minus headers and exhaust which was about £600-800 off depending on the dealer i asked at the time. When I first went to a variety of dealers the prices didn't budge more than £300 I ended up buying at the end of the quarter and got a slightly better deal although its not as much discount as i have got from some other Japanese bike dealers. the flip side is that its been an excellent bike which I have had no problems with (except a left hand heated grip that stopped working). I personally feel that I got a good deal although I know people who have got better deals.
