Dealer for BMW clothing

One of the WorldOfBMW newsletters a few weeks ago was advertising the new BMW AirVantage Waistcoat. Today I go out for a ride, end up a little cold and think "I'll swing by the dealer in P'boro and check them out".

Get there and they don't have any on display, just the electrical ones, which I'm not really after. Ask 2 different members of staff about "That new BMW waistcoat that you blow air into to keep warm" and I get a blank look and a "I've not heard about that" from both.

The WOBMW site says 'Stay warm this Winter' and I can't cause they don't sell the damn things! Where am I going wrong? Is there a Motorrad shop at the listed address in Bracknell that sells everything?

Bracknell is just the BM UK HQ. No shop as far I know.

The 06 clothing brochure must be out now though. Ask the places you went to send a copy or try the web.

An interesting garment....expensive for what it is but perhaps not for what it does. I've got one, courtesy of a very kind friend who had one surplus to requirements and who understands my gear fetish. So far, I've only worn it when walking the dog and it's proved to be very warm but, as yet, I haven't worn it on the bike.

Airvantage vest

You could a) threaten to report Balderston to BMW UK or b) be nice.
b) Try and work out approximately what size you would be by trying on an electric vest first, the get Balderston to order the Airvantage in for you to try on. It should be a snug fit. Under recently revised rules, dealers can get the stock in without actually buying it and return it without charge if the customer is not happy. If they contradict this then it's back to a)
I'm one to talk - as I've just invested in a Gerbing electric jacket with heated collar and sleeves - toasty for £150. Normally I am a complete BMW gear fanatic.

At Balderston, as any other BMW dealer in the UK, we choose what items of clothing from the BMW range to stock. The range is vast and impossible to stock one of every item in every size and every colour.
We try to judge what will be a good seller and yours was the first enquiry we had for the AirVantage.

Bought it!

Swung by Balderston today, tried on and bought the Airvantage Waistcoat. Does what it says on the tin - nice and warm at speed in today's high winds and icy cold temperature. It'll definitely be part of my standard commuting kit.

Kudos to Balderstons for getting one in for me.

Of course, now my legs need the same treatment...
