Surely it shouldn't be too hard to buy a bike, should it?

Last summer, I took a fancy to an R1200S at JC in Dundee. Had a look at the bike and decided about 20 mins later that I'd take it. I phoned the dealer, said I wanted it and gave them my details and explained that I'd be in again the following week.

On the next visit the original salesman wasn't there but I was completely ignored in the showroom by everyone else. I wandered up to the storage shed and looked at the bike again and took some photos of it. Still nobody appeared so I went home and assumed that the salesman would be in touch....which never happened.

I've since bought elsewhere but I still fancy the 1200S, so last Sunday night whilst browsing the internet I had a look at the JC website and saw some low mileage 1200S's advertised. I used the enquiry form and asked for some pic and more info. Of course I've had no acknowledgement of my enquiry at all.

Now, I could have chased them on either occasion but I shouldn't have to, or am I just being stubborn? Maybe, but they have to put a bit of effort in if they want my money. It's not like the R1200S is a great selling model.

Nevermind, that's it off my chest now!

Scandalous. Do you know which salesman you dealt with originally?

I was going to suggest phoning Alan Dalzeil and letting him know but if it was AD himself who you dealt with, there might not be much point.

Unfortunately the original contact was with Alan. He was pleasant enough - even asked me to get a T-Shirt from Donnington for him, so I'm surprised he didn't follow anything up.

I might see if my local dealer can buy one trade from them, but I'd like to ride the thing first.

The website thing really bugs me. I do most of my "surfing" in the evenings, when places are generally closed. What is the point of putting contact areas or email addresses on their websites if they don't bother to look at them! I'm not picking on Clarks for this, it's a widespread problem. Most of my purchases are based on simple things like someone calling back or just being pleasant.

Bah Humbug:mad:

You're initial problem was probably that Alan was day off/lunch break when you looked in the second time. I know from personal experience that the car salesmen would rather pick dogshit from their shoes with their fingernails than acknowledge anyone in the bike area.

I would give Alan a ring and point out your experiences and complaints. Give him the chance to sort the problem out...:thumb2

Hi Iain, I'm on the phone to Alan as I'm typing this. I believe that he's phoning you at the moment and he'll happily sort you out with a bike.

Result! You're better than any of JC's car salespersons :thumb2

Edit: I'm moving this into the Dealer section. Unable to PM the thread author. Ronno

If you spend your working life telling people that their kids are going to be adopted or that you're putting their names on the Child Protection Register, then selling snow to Eskimos is a doddle....:augie

Yup, Alan called within an hour of my original post. Hopefully I'll get out on a bike this weekend if its not p*ssing down.

Cheers
