The last work I had done on my bike involved the dealer removing the front wheel. Paint is now scratched off both sides of where the adapter fits to hold the axle steady. Not a major issue but I do like to keep my bikes pristine.

Should I

1. Shrug and accept it as fair wear and tear?
2. Insist on a spray up by the dealer?
3. Ask for a free touch-up stick and do it myself?

I spend a good amount of my time repairing car wheels that have been damaged whilst the vehicle was being repaired at the dealers, usually on the tyre removal machine, If you notice the damage on collection, no probs it will be fixed. If however you only notice the damage at a later date the conversation could get difficult, it all depends on the service managers attitude to customers.

Good luck.

Definitely option 2 if you've proof it was them.

a bikes for riding...........so its got a mark on it......thats what touch up is for.........you need to get out more...............:D

It's a 2 Bumpy!
Damage is avoidable if care is taken and that's where the problem is for some so called mechanics who just dont give a rats. Get them to sort it. Then perhaps the service manager might instruct their staff how to value customers goods. See how they like it when you sit on one of their showroom bikes and scratch the tank with your zip!

After you drop your Bike a couple of times on the trails / back roads, you will will not care about the scratches. It's a GS.

But if the Dealer did it, he should fix it.

I'd ring up the service manager and discuss. Unless you raise it when you collect, you're really relying on their goodwill - I'm sure a lot of people try and get free repairs done on the back of 'dealer damage'. I've had a car resprayed on this basis.

The service manager has agreed to get it sorted at the next service, no argument.:thumb2
