Can anyone recommend a garage / mechanic who could decat a kTm 1190?

Thanks,

Shay.

Why do you need a garage/mechanic to do it?
If you are able to remove the relevant part (headers/mid/can) simply cut near the cat with a grinder & thin blade, smash the cat out, take to a local metalworkers/fab shop to get stainless welded up, I normally pay ~ £25

There isn't always much difference after the decat.
The above is a dl650 system.

I went to a performance car centre that specialised in hot hatch boy racer exhausts!! When I asked if they could cut my cat out they didn't blink an eye - they did it day in, day out.

Originally the plan was to cut a letterbox and knock the cat out, but the cat is welded in and that option wasn't viable. Instead they cut the whole thing out and welded in a new section. And I have to say, they did a bloody good job ... :thumb2

Shay,
There's a guy in Cork who has very impressive equipment for making exhausts.
He's also not expensive.
I'm sure this would be a doddle for him.
The name won't come to me right now but if you're prepared to come to Cork to get it done, I'll look it up.

thanks, will give you a shout when the weather gets a bit warmer.. would be a nice spin down and back

Educate me

I don't get it.

Why would you want to cut the catalytic converter out ?

Dunno about KTM's, but on on my GS it allows the engine to spin much easier higher up the rev range.
Only makes it slightly noisier. Common mod on the GS.
