Today I decated my 07 1200 GS and wow what a diffrance the bike is so much better from idle to limiter it just revs so much easier mych more eager to go ,so begs the question why do BMW make the cat so restrictive .any way the up shot is I like my GS even more :thumb2

I'd expect a proper sports cat to be less restrictive., but the bike boys seem to like doing things the hard way.

They are better Decatted but if you fit a rear can & some proper headers or at least a power commander or remap, you'll be astonished what can be achieved from the "mere" tractor engine :D

The engines run so lean its wonder they run at all. Hilltop sort out all that and a happy side effect is lots more power with virtually no loss of mpg.

My MPG is 2-3 miles less to a gallon following my Hilltop remap but perhaps its not a coincidence that I'm getting 4K to a rear tyre instead of 5K pre remap :D

Really? It's not part of an MOT test but I thought as a manufacturer, BMW have to follow the Euro emissions rules as part of the design process :nenau

Correct and that's why the bikes come fitted with catalytic convertors and fuel maps that make them run particularly lean around 4K to 4.5K rpm.

4 to 4.5 K revs is the speed EU tests for noise emission. So they run weak to pass the test. The cat is tested elsewhere in EU. For once UK has a bit of common sense.

End can fitted and powercommander this weekend then the next weekend it's Dyno time

Is this why there's a nasty period of vibration at those revs? I'm expecting a remap to cure it.

My TC gave some impressive figures once i fitted a pc and had some Dyno time, even more so then a remap !
