Decision air/oil

The quest for an airhead is not going so well should i be tempted by an 04 12GS ABS with 7.5K miles on it? no boxes or anything on it

Kind of depends what you want the bike for really. There have been loads of airheads for sale recently – between here and Ebay I’ve seen every model of GS for sale apart from the R65. What model are you after?

preference would a be an 80 or 100 PD for occasional off the beaten track and euro adventures.. I missed a couple of 100PDs on ebay - didn't have the readies at time! Thinking tho that if i got a 12 it'd be good (reliable?) day to day transport - better than four wheels especially for occasional trips into the smoke. I've been offered the 12GS 04 at £7.5K (ABS h/grips), but with no luggage. Whaddya reckon?

If you really want a classic BMW then at least join the BMW club - there are 6000 members and hundreds, perhaps thousands, own air heads.
