What's the team's advice on de-weaponising a steed, when it comes to sale or trade-in time?

Should the weapons go as part of the sale or be taken off (like the TT clutch reservoir defender and that undertailrack bag that held the mag's) and put on EBay?
 
One man's Tour-O-Twat Clutch Reservoir Tactical Defender is another man's unnecessary Spam.

Generally, I think you get nothing extra for Spam at trade-in. Certainly in the lease car world, most factory 'extras' have to paid in full over the term of the lease and are valued at £0 for trade-in (there are some exceptions).

Take them off and eBay at your leisure.....
 
Blue book prices don't include money for firearms and armour accessories so Id suggest trade ins are for a basic vehicle only.
 
Whip off the high calibre items certainly but leave the smaller stuff on unless you'll reuse it or don't value your time much. The sale price minus costs and effort to remove, clean, advertise, sell and get delivered can mean you working for 2p an hour.
 
Put weaponised bike back to standard for public safety.

Sell weaponised parts separately.

Every time. You'll make more money selling separately and people seem to like honest standard bikes.
 
It depends on the hardware guv.

Weapons grade Plutonium could be difficult to shift on EBay. Eastern Europe's your best chance.

If it's a sawn-off, best sell it darn the pub.
 
De-badge and remove any i dent, camo and I'd Hilk & Trb it past the Reme boys as well.

Imagine my surprise - when the 2lbs of the stuff that I flushed down the toilet .......... Was sitting in the bloody U-bend for 6 months! :blast

Don't forget to remove any unused ammo from the panniers the tyre kicking Pikeys that come round to view already have enough
 
I've always went with only put on stuff that I can take off and sell on come trade in time. Dealers don't give you nowt for them (but are quick to advertise them when selling on).

Obviously if you're not going to get anything for your upgrades leave them on. e.g. I left on my side stand foot enlarger as it was bit beaten up. But things like the puig screen, end can and sat nav got taken off and sold on. Best money in your own pocket and a deal for a fellow biker on a good used part in my opinion.
 
Agree with comments above. I get bored easily so sell/trade quite often. The only time I've left parts in was my GSA which went privately for a fair all in price, otherwise I strip off anything worth selling and flog the standard bike. I asked my friendly dealer what the trade in difference would be when swapping GS for something else, with fender extenders, head guards, rad guards etc and he said no difference with or without. It may be slightly easier to shift but they don't get a better price. That applies especially to tasty extras like a BWM Nav or akra can.

Take them off if you can be bothered and sell them, or leave them on it's your choice, no bikermates here care what you do with your mighty steed when the time comes to part ways :thumb2
