deep water concern

Can anyone help, i have noticed the air intake on the `08 gsa bahnstomers have lent me while is having a new final drive replacement. It seems a bit low and right in place to suck up crap and water. I have a 2008 gsa, and yes it goes off road and in deep crud, is there some sort if snorkel or mod that relocates the air intake. Just a thought...

I don't know which is the biggest mistake in the design of the air intake, the location of the intake itself, or the fact that the crankcase breather runs into the bottom of the airbo, so, if any water does get in, it runs straight into the crankcase and the oil.
I've seen bikes with a piece of vacuum cleaner hose on the end of the intake and this is run up to the top of the headstock...... it looks a million dollars.... n't! ;-)

My GS-A has been in most situations but I draw the line at deep water....I just don`t get it and it scares the living bejeez out of me One mistake and it`s goodbye megabucks
