Deer oh Deer

Apparently the Deer is still lying at the side of the road somewhere between Rathdrum and Rathnew...
All I ask is if anyone gets to it, that I get my pound of flesh.

Another near miss

Had one jump out in front of me in Scotland a few years back ..Missed me by a hair ... As with all accidents /near misses it is really scarey how fast it happens ... Any way I now have one of those deer scarer things stuck on the front of the bike ... I dont know if they work or not

I pass hundreds of them every day en route to and from work. Herds of them run across the road at the least provocation and if you hit one you are liable. I think I have worked it out though. I am now convinced they are attracted to hundred foot tall white metal crosses.

OK, where did I meet this fella today?

Hope to God i don't hit one of these damn great wild boar i keep seeing at night over here, think i might come off worst. (Mountain road Oria to Chirivel, Spain.) Stories of them charging cars at night as well.

I pass the same herd every day on the way into work and they haven't given my any trouble...that may change if they find out what I did to their cousin. Might have to start using the M50 again....:blast

Some guys on ADVrider reckon that those whistly yokes are as likely to scare deer out onto the road in front of you as they are to scare them away. It's hard to know. :nenau

I agree its hard to know if they work or not ...Once I was riding with on a back road and came around a bend just in time to see to startled deer retreat at speed into nearby woods... Was it the whistler or just the bike ...I really dont know ..The guy riding with me reckoned it was just the bikes sudden arrival in the deers field of vision ...

That whistle thing might work on one that never heard it before but if they hear it a few times and it's not doing them any harm then they won't take much notice.
I shoot the odd few for the freezer - no interest in big antlers for the wall - a nice pricket if I come across one this time of year or when the doe/hind season opens you can't beat the younger ones for flavour and tenderness :drool
If you're going to hit one aim for the head - don't ruin the meat on the ass ;)
