Plus does the better one of the two have ubuntu and XP3 or just XP3, I find it a little unclear. 399€

Have you considered as an alternative the Asus eeeP 900 with Linux or the WinXP 901 version? I can recommend the 900 with Linux as my wife uses one as her primary machine these days running eeeUbuntu and loves it.
