Bought a Dell inspiron 640m, off this forum 26/7/07 'ish (can't remember who from :blast but paid cash into his bank account). Thing is I now have BT Home Hub thing with Wireless, but every time I try to set up Dell it tells me I need a password, I haven't put a password in and the Dell was supposed to be New with business Vista and all mod cons. one of a few purchase for staff of a small business, one of whom resigned before the Dells' arrived, hence the sale. Could the Tosser I bought it from help with the password or is there an easy way for me to change/bypass the password.:nenau:bow

I may be jumping the gun but it sounds more like it's the wireless router that's after a password. They frequently have a default one set so that people can't hijack the thing the moment it's turned on. Where exactly is it asking for the password? Whilst trying to access the Home Hub from the Dell? In IE/Mozilla?

When you say 'password', do you mean the wifi encryption key?

If you've already got a computer linked wirelessly to the BT Homehub use it to look at the settings to see what the key is. Then when the Dell asks for the key (password) put it in.

If you haven't a computer linked wirelessly then you'll need to link them both by cable in order to set up the encryption key. Once you have, you'll be able to unplug the cable and go wireless.
