Den Electrics....

Now , everyone, carefully take any overcautious H&S rules and expectations that they have (nothing wrong with cautious ones) roll them into a tube like shape, and ram them up your extremely tight pedantic little arses.

Beautifully put :ChrisKelly

the last time i used something similar to an H+S bod i got slung off site:D

I agree H&S has gone mad, have what ever picture you like.

To me it seems daft to use a picture that looks like it came right off the latest powerpoint presentation that purports to be a site induction when they want to ask you "what are the risks in this scene".

On the other hand it is easy to spend 30 minutes creating a few scenes for photos to stick on your site that will convey your work in an attractive way without the potential to lose that nice contract with say a pub chain or a landlord.

The other photos on your site convey nicely what you do without showing what appears from a static photo to be lots of small risks being taken.

Professionalism takes little extra work but can pay dividends big time.

I see exactly where you are coming from rce. I'm fully aware of what is 'expected' nowadays.
And that is my problem. And before you say it, I am probably cutting my nose off to spite my face.

When you see the advert in the glossy Sunday suppliment for Marks&Spencers beef goulash, the thick glistening gravy, the succulent meat, the redness of the paprika ...... That aint what you are going to get when you take it out of the microwave. Its all a lie. What you want and what you actually get is what pisses us all off these days.

Maybe I should get Schtums photo, photoshop Brad Pit (topless, but with goggles and gloves) onto a sturdy scaffold, erase the pre-existing wires, and maybe have a backdrop of a sandy beach with blue crystal ocean in the background.
My customers wont actually get this. What they will get is a slightly overweight specky ugly bloke with a pair of ricketty steps and Scottish honesty, who will do the job to the best of his ability, at a cost which will hopefully surprise them in a good way.
They wont get anything they dont expect.
If that loses me certain customers or contracts ... so be it.

Maybe people like me are what this pathetic society needs, and we will all get back to reality, instead of being disappointed when nothing lives up to the expectations foisted upon us by idiots who are only concerned about their own status and wealth and could not really give a fuck for the people they are supposed to represent.

I was actaully going to say how surprised I was one or two of the posts in this thread.

But in truth, I'm not. Still quite sad though. :(

I get that and understand, it is not about perfect, it is about selling yourself in the best way possible. You sell "safety checks" as part of your patter, I don't think you are doing yourself any favours using that particular photo.

You know your business and what you want/expect from it, I was just hoping to help.

I will limit my comments in future and didn't mean to cause offence.

I think it's been taken on board :thumb2

My fault for jumping on the chance to put in another piccy without thinking about it :blast

I believe Den is going back there, and I'm sure if a better (In terms of not jumping out at someone who is concerned about H&S as 'wrong') piccy comes out of it without too much 'set dressing', we'll use it :thumb2

There, did I tread the middle ground carefully enough? :D

Hi Den

Are you anywhere near Kirriemuir.

If so could you do a 5 year wiring check and PAT test on about 20 items on a 2 bed cottage we rent out.

If not anyone else near that you know could do it.

cheers

Dane

Sorry, Dane, too far away. You can contact 'whytegoods'. This is a guy who l used to work with. I don't know if he does pat testing though. Its easy but you need a special certificate.
Thanks for the offer.:thumb2

I got it. I guess I think the same way. Constructive observation. Not criticism.
I love this story (a) because Den seems to have taken off on a career change and (b) because of the help that has been given by others from various corners.
