I am looking at fitting a Denali B6 brake light by attaching it to the bottom of my numberplate. I have read a number of threads on fitting this but most focus on the R1250gs.

Has anyone fitted one to the 1300gs without a canbus controller ? I am hoping to avoid the additional £250 expense of said controller.

Any guidance gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

One answer & one question

Yes you can fit an additional brake light, but it may not work, as the bike itself operates the lights using specific systems / busses

The £250 is well spent, as it allows you to configure the brake light for variable brightness, flash on brake / engine deceleration

The question though is why??

You have 2 perfectly good brake lights allready fitted, and they are highly visible :)

Or have you been listening to an influenza who insists you add another light ??

On two different occasions with different riding buddys, both have commented how poor/confusing ( in their opinions ) the rear combined indicator/brake light was.

If that comment comes from experienced bikers, I wonder if a car or bigger vehicle driver may not see it and personally I would rather them know my intention is to slow down or stop than be rear ended.

Thanks for the advice, anyone selling a controller 😂

The brake lights are OK it's when you're indicating and braking at the same time where it not so good

How many of you have actually travelled behind a bike with this set up and indicating ?

I have and its very clear what is happening

Normal running lights - both red lamps lit & very bright from way over 50 yds way And i mean really bright !

Braking - both lights go very bright - visible from over 50 yds away really bright, you cant miss them

Indicator (no braking) LH lamp stays lit still very visible /bright from over 50 yds away RH lamp flashes very bright orange- really bright

Indicator + braking - LH lamp goes very bright (red) Rh lamp goes very bright, (red) and then dims somewhat as the orange flashes

But at all times i could see an indicator & a brake light

Personal opinion,

For years the traditional bike back end was Indicator ------------brake/ stop -----------Indicator

Cars have been Indicator /brake/stop-------------------- Indicator/brake stop

Never been an issue

Now we have for cars Indicator /brake/stop ----------------- Indicator /brake/stop

Now we have for bikes Indicator /brake/stop ----------------- Indicator /brake/stop

And everyone thinks its not good / unclear / unsafe

You've just increased your rear end light setup by 50% and made it more obvious

I cant speak for you riding friends but ...

if i see brake lights, i'm already mapping out what / why/ where so if an indicator then goes on - it's no biggy

so i cant understand why your mates think its an issue?

I dont have any mates,I just tried it on the drive ,indicator didn't stand out as much as I'd like with the brake lights that's all I'm saying 😁

Some car drivers are not that switched on !

I'm with Santa on this one. And for car drivers that aren't switched on enough to see the blazing red OEM brake lights likely won't be any different if an additional light is added unfortunately.

Just personal experience for me when following an S1000RR with the same setup was that I never had an issue figuring out what his intentions were when behind him.

I think you have me mixed up with the op,I've no intention of fitting any extra rear lights it was just an observation. In this crazy world of h&s I'm sure it passed all the legislation 👍

Thanks for all your opinions gentlemen, all duly noted.

However, Denali controller ordered and will be fitted in due course. If any of you are ever behind me, I apologise in advance for the ‘ Christmas Tree ‘ back end .

Got the full weiser wizard and the the additional rear brake light , plus the Ezcan and the Denali lights on the self , will be putting on sale soon .
So a bit of a waste of money buying it 🤣

I’m thinking about this but can’t decide between B6 or T3 for the brake light. 10% discount on the Weiser site using carl10.
I'd be thinking,

Why am i spending money on a problem that dosent exsist !

Thanks for sharing.
How did you route the cable from under the seat to the Denali extra brake light ?

If you drop the rear plastics (the bit that holds the licence plate and indicators, just two screws). You have to go under the bike and look up

You can see a hole to route it through....very easy and quick
